The Miami Heat invade the FedExForum to do battle with the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

Miami Heat

The Miami Heat have endured a slow start to the season, but they are now aiming for a third straight win after sneaking past the Lakers in a thrilling 108-107 home win on Monday. Jimmy Butler led the way with 28 points and six assists on nine of 15 shooting, Tyler Herro added 22 points while Bam Adebayo tallied a triple-double of 22 points with 20 rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Heat shot 46 percent from the field and 12 of 37 from the 3-point line as they squandered a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter, before they clamped down defensively and held the Lakers scoreless in the final 2:37 to escape with the gritty victory.

Miami Heat Team Facts

  • The underdogs have won each of the Heat’s last seven games at FedExForum.
  • The underdogs have covered the spread in each of the Heat’s last seven games at FedExForum.
  • Each of the Heat’s last six road games following a home win have gone OVER the total points line.

Memphis Grizzlies

Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies started their season with six losses in a row, but they will be feeling much better after taking down the Trail Blazers in a 112-100 road win on Sunday. Desmond Bane led the team with 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 27 points on 11 of 18 shooting while Luke Kennard chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 32 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they surrendered a 12-point lead, but they regrouped and held the Trail Blazers to just 14 points in the fourth quarter to earn their first win of the season.

Memphis Grizzlies Team Facts

  • The underdogs have won each of the last seven games between the Heat and Grizzlies at FedExForum.
  • The Grizzlies have covered the spread in each of their last eight games as home underdogs.
  • Each of the Grizzlies’ last four home games against Eastern Conference opponents have gone UNDER the total points line.

Peter’s Pick

The Heat are again shorthanded as Caleb Martin is still out, while the Grizzlies are still missing John Konchar, Derrick Rose and Ja Morant. The Heat have yet to find their groove this season, but they will be feeling so much better after they were able to grind out a much-needed win over the Lakers in their last outing. The Grizzlies were looking terrible during their six-game slide before they finally snapped out of it with a solid win over the lowly Trail Blazers. We’ve seen the Heat already lose against teams they should be beating and this is another example, but I think the Heat gained a lot of confidence from their win over the Lakers and I like their chances at this short line.

Joe Hall's Free Pick: Miami +1.5
