The Atlanta Hawks travel to the Target Center to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.

The Atlanta Hawks have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to stay hot after blowing past the lowly Pistons in a 129-107 home win last night. Trae Young led the way with 30 points and 12 assists, Bogdan Bogdanovic added 18 points while John Collins chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 38 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before they dominated the third quarter by 33-19 to put the game to bed early.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in a rut as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall, but they will be looking to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 140-134 road win over the red-hot Knicks on Monday. Taurean Prince led the team with 35 points on 12 of 13 shooting, Mike Conley added 24 points with 11 assists, Jaden McDaniels scored 18 points while Rudy Gobert chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot a sizzling 61 percent from the field and 14 of 24 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble when they surrendered a 17-point lead, but they made up for it as they closed the final 4:20 on a 16-5 run to snatch the win from the jaws of defeat.

Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days rest. The Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record.

Head to head, the over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Hawks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Hawks are 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Minnesota.

The Hawks could be shorthanded again as Dejounte Murray is listed as day to day, while the Timberwolves are keeping eyes on Jaylen Nowell, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards who are all listed as questionable. The Hawks are struggling to put together a long, extended run of wins, but they’ve managed to keep their heads above water and they would’ve taken plenty of confidence from last night’s big win. The Timberwolves were really struggling before they beat the Kings on Monday, but they could be missing some key players again in this one. You definitely should check the lineups before tipoff, but assuming that the Timberwolves are shorthanded again, I’ll stick with the Hawks to get the job done on the road.
