The Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves collide in Game 6 of the 1st Round at the Target Center on Thursday night.
Denver Nuggets Betting Preview
The Denver Nuggets have their backs against the wall in this series, but they were able to keep their season alive with a 125-113 home victory over the Timberwolves in Game 5 on Monday. Nikola Jokic led the team with a triple-double of 27 points with 12 rebounds and 16 assists, Jamal Murray added 24 points with seven assists, Spencer Jones scored 20 points on seven of nine shooting while Cameron Johnson chipped in with 18 points, six rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 57 percent from the field and 11 of 29 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter to take the early lead but it was still a relatively close contest until the third quarter where they exploded for 37 points to lead by as many as 27 points at one stage.
Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves will be hoping to bounce back and close out the series at home after getting routed by the Nuggets in Game 5 on Monday. In the absence of the injured Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle led the team in scoring with 27 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Ayo Dosunmu added 18 points while Terrence Shannon Jr and Bones Hyland each scored 15 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 51 percent from the field and 12 of 28 from the 3-point line as they weathered an early barrage from the Nuggets and did well to stay within striking distance at halftime, but they were lethargic coming out of the halftime break and got blown out in the third quarter. Mike Conley scored just four points in 17 minutes of action while Naz Reid scored just 12 points off the bench.
Denver v Minnesota Free Prediction
The Nuggets have ruled out Peyton Watson again with Aaron Gordon listed as a game time decision, while the Timberwolves are missing Donte DiVincenzo and Anthony Edwards with Bones Hyland listed as a game time decision. The Nuggets needed to fight for their lives after falling behind by 3-1 in the series and now they are favorites to move onto the next round, especially with the Timberwolves losing their starting backcourt to injury. The Timberwolves missed on a crucial chance to close out the Nuggets in Game 5, but they still have a chance to get the job done at home if someone like Dosunmu can have another big game. I am sure we will see plenty of fight from the Timberwolves at home in a near must-win game, but the series changed dramatically once Anthony Edwards hyperextended his knee. With that being said, I will stick with the Nuggets to get the win and force a series decider at home.
