The Denver Nuggets travel to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Wednesday night.

Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets will be gunning for a fifth straight win after sneaking past the Jazz in a 110-102 home win on Monday. Nikola Jokic led the team with a triple-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, Aaron Gordon added 21 points while Jamal Murray tallied 18 points with 14 assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot a healthy 56 percent from the field and nine of 28 from the 3-point line as they found their groove right away and took a 13-point lead into halftime, before they did just enough to hold off a late charge from the Jazz in the fourth quarter.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have lost two of their first three games of the season and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Hawks in a 127-113 road loss on Monday. Anthony Edwards led the way with 31 points and seven assists on 13 of 21 shooting, Karl-Anthony Towns added 16 points with 10 rebounds while Rudy Gobert tallied 14 points with 13 rebounds. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 48 percent from the field and 16 of 33 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 79 points in the first half to lead by as many as 21 points, only to get outscored by 67-34 in the second half to allow the Hawks to snatch the game from them in a classic game of two halves.

Peter’s Pick

The Nuggets have hit the ground running this season, Jokic is back to racking up triple-doubles and Gordon has picked up his scoring. Conversely, the Timberwolves have won just one of their first three games and they just got embarrassed by the Hawks in a poor loss on Monday despite a big game from Edwards. The Nuggets are going to falter sooner or later, but given how well they’re playing so far, I’ll back them to get the win and cover at this short line.

Joe Hall's Free Pick: Denver -3.5
