The Sacramento Kings and the New York Knicks collide at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
The Sacramento Kings have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their past 13 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a six-game slide after coming up just short to the 76ers in a 103-101 road loss on Saturday. Tyrese Haliburton led the team with 38 points and seven assists on 11 of 19 shooting, Harrison Barnes added 16 points with eight rebounds and five assists while Davion Mitchell chipped in with 15 points and five assists. As a team, the Kings shot 43 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to lead by as many as 17 points early on, but they couldn’t keep up the pace and just couldn’t get back in front after giving up the lead in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a slump of their own as they’ve lost six of their past seven games and they will be hoping to stop a three-game skid after getting routed by the Bucks in a 123-108 road loss on Friday. Evan Fournier led the team with 25 points on 10 of 19 shooting, RJ Barrett added 23 points while Alec Burks scored 10 points off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 46 percent from the field and 14 of 40 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Bucks to pour on 39 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before going cold in the fourth quarter where they managed just 20 points to allow the Bucks to run away with it. Julius Randle had himself another quiet game of just nine points in 37 minutes of action while Barrett shot just six of 20 from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 road games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a losing record. The Knicks are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 17-5-1 ATS in their last 23 games playing on two days’ rest.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Kings could be shorthanded again for this one as Terence Davis and Marvin Bagley are both out while De’Aaron Fox is listed as questionable with an ankle sprain. The Knicks are still missing Derrick Rose while Nerlens Noel is listed as day to day. It’s hard to make an argument for the Kings who have lost 11 of their past 13 games, but they were more than competitive against the 76ers on Saturday. The Knicks have really gone cold now and they’re just getting next to no production from Julius Randle which is troubling. It’s hard to pick between two struggling teams, but the Knicks are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games and they just need this win more, so that’s what I’m going with in this one.
