The Utah Jazz and the New York Knicks collide at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
The Utah Jazz have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be looking to build some momentum after arresting a three-game skid with a 122-116 road win over the Raptors last night. Walker Kessler and Lauri Markkanen led the team with 23 points apiece, Collin Sexton added 22 points with six assists while Kelly Olynyk chipped in with 15 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 54 percent from the field and six of 24 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Raptors for most of the game to fall behind by 14 points in the third quarter, but they refused to give up and exploded for 39 points in the fourth quarter to pull off the unlikely victory in the end.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their last five games, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after coming up short against the 76ers in a 119-108 road loss last night. Jalen Brunson led the team with 30 points, seven rebounds and nine assists, Julius Randle added 30 points with 10 rebounds and three assists while RJ Barrett chipped in with 19 points on seven of 16 shooting. As a team, the Knicks shot 53 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 36 points in the first quarter to lead for most of the contest, but they never put the 76ers away and managed just 15 points in the fourth quarter to allow the 76ers to run away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest. The Knicks are 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games playing on zero days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the under is 6-0 in the last six meetings overall, the Jazz are 4-13 ATS in the last 17 meetings in New York and the Jazz are 9-26 ATS in the last 35 meetings overall.
The Jazz are shorthanded again as Jordan Clarkson has been ruled out with an illness while the newly acquired Russell Westbrook won’t make his debut just yet. The Knicks are still missing Mitchell Robinson and the newly acquired Josh Hart won’t be available for this one. It’s hard to split these two squads at the moment, but the Knicks are a solid 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 games playing on zero days’ rest and I think they have been travelling just a little better lately compared to the Jazz who are only 4-13 ATS in the last 17 meetings in New York.
