The New Orleans Pelicans and the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been building nicely as they’ve won five of their past eight games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after last night’s 117-113 home win over the Pacers. Devonte’ Graham led the team with 25 points and six assists, Josh Hart added 22 points with 10 rebounds while Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with 16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Pelicans shot 46 percent from the field and six of 30 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest by holding the Pacers to just 17 points in the third quarter, before escaping with the narrow win by making six of their last seven free throws.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 11 of their past 14 games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after sneaking past the Spurs in a 115-109 road win on Sunday. Joel Embiid led the team with 38 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey each scored 18 points while Furkan Korkmaz chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 47 percent from the field and seven of 16 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and poured in 59 points in the first half to build an early 15-point lead, before holding off the Spurs late in the fourth quarter where their lead got cut to just two points with 33 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest. The 76ers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record, 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games against a team below .400 and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Pelicans are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Philadelphia and the Pelicans are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Pelicans are starting to turn things around and they would’ve taken plenty of confidence from their gritty win over the Pacers last night, but the 76ers are just running red-hot at the moment and they have the advantage of extra rest in this one. The Pelicans are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 road games, so I’m sticking with the 76ers to take care of business with another big performance from Embiid in this one.
