The Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns duke it out at the Footprint Center on Tuesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in a rut as they will be hoping to put an end to a four-game slide after falling just short to the Warriors in a 110-106 road loss on Saturday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 32 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, Patty Mills added 24 points while James Johnson chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Nets shot just 39 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the 3-point line but they got off to a terrible start and managed just 20 points in the first quarter, before things got worse in the third quarter where they fell behind by 19 points.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 13 of their past 14 games overall and they will be aiming for an 11th straight victory after sneaking past the Spurs in a 115-110 home win on Sunday. Devin Booker led the team with 28 points, Mikal Bridges added 26 points on 11 of 16 shooting while Chris Paul tallied 20 points with eight rebounds and 19 assists. As a team, the Suns shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and looked to be in trouble after trailing by 12 points in the third quarter, but they came to life in the fourth quarter to keep their win streak alive. Elfrid Payton had a bit of a rough night as he scored just two points on one of seven shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record, 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games against a team above .600 and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the over is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in Phoenix, the Nets are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall and the Nets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Phoenix.
The Nets will be shorthanded once again as LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Durant and Joe Harris are all out, while James Harden is listed as questionable for this one. The Suns have a list of injuries themselves as Jae Crowder, DeAndre Ayton, Abdel Nader, Landry Shamet and Cameron Payne are all out once again. The Nets put up a good fight against the Warriors on Saturday, but they’ve really been struggling to stay competitive lately with so many key players sitting out. The Suns are currently the hottest team in the league and it’s no surprise that their elite backcourt has been leading the way. The Nets might hang around in this one till the fourth quarter, but I like the Suns to eventually pull away for the win and cover.
