The Los Angeles Lakers invade the Footprint Center to battle the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost 10 of their last 12 games and they will be hoping to put an end to a six-game slide after getting thrashed by the Nuggets in a 129-118 loss on Sunday. Anthony Davis led the team with 28 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, Russell Westbrook added 27 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists while Carmelo Anthony chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Lakers shot 53 percent from the field and six of 20 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Nuggets in a close contest, until the fourth quarter where the Nuggets poured in 34 points to pull away in the end.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have won 11 of their past 14 games, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting thrashed by the Thunder in a 117-96 road loss on Sunday. Mikal Bridges led the team in scoring with 18 points, Cameron Johnson added 14 points while Chris Paul chipped in with 11 points and nine assists. As a team, the Suns shot just 41 percent from the field and seven of 38 from the 3-point line as they got off to a solid start to take the lead into halftime, before getting completely blown off the floor in the second half by 65-43 as they had no answer for the Thunder once they caught fire.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite and the Suns are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings overall, the Lakers are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings overall and the Lakers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Phoenix.
The Lakers will be keeping an eye on LeBron James and Anthony Davis who are both questionable, while the Suns could easily rest some players given that they have the top seed all locked up. The Lakers have been a mess for a while now and I just can’t see them troubling the Suns who are fresh off a rare loss. Give me the Suns to bounce back into form with a big win and cover at home.
