Phoenix Suns vs Washington Wizards Prediction 12-17-23 NBA Picks

The Phoenix Suns play host to the Washington Wizards at the Footprint Center on Sunday night. Here’s a Suns vs Wizards prediction.

Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards have been in terrible form, but they will be feeling better after they were able to put a halt to a six-game slide with a 137-123 win over the Pacers on Friday. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 31 points, five rebounds and four assists, Jordan Poole added 30 points with eight assists on 12 of 18 shooting, Corey Kispert scored 23 points off the bench while Tyus Jones compiled a triple-double of 13 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 56 percent from the field and 13 of 27 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after allowing the Pacers to pour on 37 points in the first quarter, but they flipped the game on its head with a 39-18 second quarter effort, before they made another run to push the lead out to 24 points to come away with the upset. The Wizards are 4-20 and have one of the worst records in the entire NBA, the same as the San Antonio Spurs.

Phoenix Suns

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have been in a real slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Knicks in a 139-122 loss on Friday. Kevin Durant led the team with 29 points and six assists, Devin Booker added 28 points with nine assists while Jusuf Nurkic chipped in with 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Suns shot 52 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the 3-point line as they poured in 38 points in the second quarter to take the lead into halftime, only to get obliterated by 42-23 in the fourth quarter to allow the Knicks to run away with it in the end.

Suns vs Wizards prediction

The Wizards are shorthanded again with Delon Wright and Landry Shamet both out, while the Suns will again be without Bradley Beal who will miss a few weeks due to his sprained right ankle. The Wizards are coming into this one fresh off an impressive upset win over the Pacers, but they were absolutely ice-cold before that, so it’s hard to get too excited about the win. The Suns have been well below their best lately, so they really need a win just to get their season back on track. The line is quite hefty in this one, but I have more faith in the talented Suns to cover this spread, than the Wizards to replicate their effort from their last game.
