Portland Trail Blazers vs Phoenix Suns 10/21/22 NBA Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Phoenix Suns travel to the Moda Center to battle the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.

The Phoenix Suns will be looking to stay red-hot after outlasting the Mavericks in a 107-105 comeback win on Wednesday night. Devin Booker led the team with 28 points and nine assists on 10 of 20 shooting, DeAndre Ayton added 18 points with 10 rebounds while Cameron Johnson chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Suns shot 47 percent from the field and eight of 22 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense and trailed by as many as 22 points before rallying in the second half to steal the game on a clutch shot from newly acquired Damion Lee who hit the game-winner with just 9.7 seconds remaining.

Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers will be eager to stay undefeated after taking down the Kings in a 115-108 road win on Wednesday. Jerami Grant led the team with 23 points and eight rebounds on five of 11 shooting, Anfernee Simons added 22 points, Damian Lillard scored 20 points with eight assists while Josh Hard tallied 19 points with seven rebounds and five assists on eight of 11 shooting. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 28 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 14-point lead, before closing the final 4:36 on a 16-4 run to escape with the gritty win.

Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record. The Trail Blazers are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record.

Head to head, the over is 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings in Portland and the Suns are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall.

The Suns looked dead in the water when they trailed by 22 points against the Mavericks on Wednesday, but they managed to stay in the fight and win it in dramatic fashion to kick off their season, so they will be full of confidence coming up against a Trail Blazers team who already look better than last season with Lillard back healthy. I’d be more interested on taking the Trail Blazers with the points if we were getting more points, but with the line so short, I’m sticking with the Suns who are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall.
