The Sacramento Kings play host to the New Orleans Pelicans at the Golden 1 Center on Monday night.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling short against the Warriors in a 108-99 road loss on Friday. CJ McCollum led the team with 25 points with six rebounds and five assists, Brandon Ingram added 17 points while Trey Murphy chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Pelicans shot 44 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 35 points in the first quarter to lead by 17 points early, but that didn’t last long as the Pelicans managed just 42 points in the second half to allow the Warriors to run them down with time to spare.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their last 11 games overall, but they will be looking to start strong in this one after having their five-game win streak halted by the Timberwolves in a 138-134 loss on Saturday. Kevin Huerter led the team with 29 points on 11 of 15 shooting, De’Aaron Fox added 25 points with seven assists while Domantas Sabonis tallied 24 points with 14 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Kings shot 55 percent from the field and 14 of 27 from the 3-point line, but they let themselves down on the defensive end as they were always playing from behind after allowing the Timberwolves to pour in 74 points in the first half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 4-14 ATS in their last 18 games against a team with a winning record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Kings are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Sacramento.
The Pelicans are shorthanded once again as Josh Richardson, Jose Alvarado and Zion Williamson are all out with Jonas Valanciunas listed as questionable, while the Kings are keeping eyes on Richaun Holmes and De’Aaron Fox who are both questionable. The Pelicans have been in terrible form and their confidence took another shot to the guts after surrendering a 17-point lead in their last outing, so I’ll back the Kings to continue their hot streak with another win and cover at home.
