The Utah Jazz and the San Antonio Spurs collide at the AT&T Center on Friday night,
The Utah Jazz have been in great shape as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the Trail Blazers in a 123-85 win on Wednesday. Bojan Bogdanovic led the team with 27 points on nine of 14 shooting, Donovan Mitchell added 16 points with six assists while Royce O’Neale chipped in with 11 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Jazz shot 51 percent from the field and 17 of 46 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start, holding the Trail Blazers to just 15 points in the first quarter to jump out to an early double-digit lead which ballooned to as many as 51 points.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Raptors in a 119-104 loss on Wednesday. Keldon Johnson led the team with 27 points on 10 of 19 shooting, Dejounte Murray tallied 25 points with nine rebounds and 12 assists while Jakob Poeltl chipped in with 11 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Spurs shot 45 percent from the field and nine of 32 from the 3-point line as they got off to a nice start to take the lead into halftime, but they couldn’t keep up the pace and went ice-cold in the second half where they got outscored by 61-43.
Looking at the betting trends, the Jazz are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Spurs are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings overall, the Jazz are 9-23-1 ATS in the last 33 meetings in San Antonio and the Jazz are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Jazz will likely be without Bojan Bogdanovic after he suffered a right leg contusion on Wednesday, while the Spurs will again be without Romeo Langford and Keita Bates-Diop. The regular season series is currently tied at 1-1 with each team winning by single digits, but based on current form, the Jazz are clearly the hotter team right now and I think they can get the win and cover in this spot.
