The Utah Jazz and the San Antonio Spurs duke it out at the Frost Bank Center on Monday night.
Utah Jazz Betting Preview
The Utah Jazz have been ice-cold to start the season as they’ve lost five of their first six games and they are now on a four-game losing streak after getting routed by the Trail Blazers in a 112-90 home defeat on Saturday. Darryn Peterson led the team in scoring with just 16 points on six of 15 shooting, Lauri Markkanen added 13 points on three of 14 shooting while Brice Sensabaugh chipped in with 12 points but no other player finished in double figures in points. As a team, the Jazz shot a horrid 37 percent from the field and 11 of 40 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace from the start, scoring just 18 points in the first quarter to fall behind by double digits and they couldn’t make any inroads despite a relatively good game on the defensive end as they held the Trail Blazers to just 41 percent shooting.
San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs dropped their first two games of the season, but they are now aiming for a fifth straight victory after outlasting the short handed Timberwolves in a 121-111 home win on Saturday. Victor Wembenyama led the team with 43 points, six rebounds and six blocks on 17 of 34 shooting, Dylan Harper added 25 points with seven rebounds and six assists while De’Aaron Fox chipped in with 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 49 percent from the field and 10 of 27 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sloppy start and trailed going into halftime, before they played much better defense in the second half to pull ahead and extend their win streak.
Utah v San Antonio Free Prediction
The Jazz are still missing Trey Alexander, Jusuf Nurkic and Jaren Jackson Jr, while the Spurs have ruled out Tobias Harris once again. The Jazz were always going to be heavy underdogs in this matchup after their blowout loss to the Trail Blazers on Saturday, but they’ve only been blown out twice this season and I think this is another one of those games where they keep the scores closer than they should be. Give me the Jazz with the bucket load of points in another road defeat.
