The Utah Jazz play host to the Dallas Mavericks at the Vivint Arena on Monday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in rough shape as they’ve lost seven of their last 11 games overall and they will be looking to bounce back after coming up short against the Warriors in a 119-113 road loss on Saturday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team with 25 points on nine of 17 shooting, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 22 points while Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in with 18 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Mavericks shot 45 percent from the field and 14 of 40 from the 3-point line, but they got off to a terrible start and were always in trouble after leaking 40 points in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in decent form as they’ve won seven of their last 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back after getting beaten by the Hawks in a 115-108 loss on Friday. Lauri Markkanen led the team with 25 points and 10 rebounds, Jordan Clarkson added 24 points while Mike Conley chipped in with 20 points and eight assists on seven of nine shooting. As a team, the Jazz shot 45 percent from the field and 13 of 44 from the 3-point line but they struggled to find their rhythm on offense and could never truly threaten after falling behind by as many as 22 points. Kelly Olynyk had a rough night as he scored just six points on two of nine shooting, while Malik Beasley scored just five points on two of 10 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 3-8 ATS in their lats 11 road games, and 7-16 ATS in their last 23 road games against a team with a winning home record. The Jazz are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a loss.
Head to head, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Mavericks are 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall and the Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Utah.
The Mavericks are shorthanded again as Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Davis Bertans are all out, while Christian Wood is questionable. The Jazz are at full health except for Jarred Vanderbilt who is questionable with back soreness. The Mavericks have been in terrible shape and they are still missing a bunch of players, but there is plenty of optimism with Kyrie Irving joining the team, only he won’t yet be able to join until the completes the physical. With that being said, I’ll go with the more reliable Jazz to take advantage of a banged up Mavericks squad.
