The Giants look to spoil the party at Heinz Field as the preseason begins for these NFL powers in Pittsburgh.
The New York Giants will look to get back into the conversation as an NFL elite this season as they have alternated Super Bowl victories over the last four seasons and would very much like to get back there this season. Eli Manning and the G-Men had a disappointing finish to last year’s season and with some on-,field changes and injuries leaving the Giants uncertain of their success this season, it could be another fall short type of year in New York. However, the Giants did lock up Victor Cruz, who is emerging as one of the league’s most dynamic talents and is surely to be Manning’s favorite target this season, but the health of Jason Pierre-Paul on the defensive line leaves a question mark for the Giants as a power on both sides of the ball. They head into Pittsburgh with the season drawing closer so we could see more snaps from the first teams, but it shouldn’t factor into our lean in this one and with the Giants in the infirmary we should see a lot of reps from the depth position players gearing for a roster spot.

The Steelers head into the 2013 season with a couple of question marks themselves, namely at the running back position as injuries and a carousel of week by week performances led to the constant cycle of ball carriers for the black and yellow. Ben Roethlisberger is undoubtedly one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and is an expert at managing games, especially in the 4th quarter and a lot of the success in Steel Town this year will depend on Big Ben’s durability. Again, we can hardly gauge how much of this game Roethlisberger and the rest of the Pittsburgh starters will see, but either way I think the edge has to go to the home team in this one. These two are pretty evenly matched on their best days but I think the defense makes the difference here and that to me favors the Steelers. Take Pittsburgh.
