The Cincinnati Bengals host the Tennessee Titans in a Saturday preseason tilt.

If preseason games have any excitement to them, the Titans 22-21 defeat at the hands of Washington was one of them. The good news in defeat was the passing of both Rusty Smith (7/10-75) and Jake Locker (7/11-58) was effective, although the rushing game probably turned a few more heads. As a team, Tennessee didn’t run amok with 126 yards, but Chris Johnson galloped for a 58 yard touchdown, while Shonn Greene added a 19 yard jaunt with a trip to the end zone. The bad news was on the defensive side of the football, where the Redskins moved the ball easily, despite no RG III and most starters either not playing or seeing minimal action.

Even though preseason in the NFL isn’t given much, if any, thought, the Bengals 34-10 victory at Atlanta was about as impressive as it gets. Offensively, the Bengals ran and threw whenever they chose and the special teams received a boost with Dane Sanzenbacher bringing a punt back 71 yards for six, while snaring a 36 yard pass for another touchdown. Josh Johnson (9/16-100) and John Skelton (4/5-72) each threw TD’s and accounted for the bulk of 200+ passing yards, while Johnson scampered for 64 yards. Rex Burkhead added another 52 rushing yards, with eight players totaling 230 ground yards. The defensive side of the football held the Falcons attack to 268 yards and never got going in any phase of the game.

This looks like an interesting matchup, although that is a dumb thing to say in the preseason. I think Tennessee has a shot here. but the way these teams moved the ball in their openers, perhaps the over is the best choice here…
