The Packers look to crack the scoreboard after getting shut out by the Cardinals last week as they travel to St. Louis to face the Rams who fell short to the Browns on the road.
If week one of the preseason is any indication of the Green Bay Packers’ season to come than you can forget about the Super Bowl, a division title, a playoff berth, or perhaps even a win this season. Luckily for the fans at Lambeau and across Packers’ Nation the preseason means diddly squat and once Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the first team offense gets into a groove there will be plenty of fireworks. Regardless, the Packers did get shut out in their preseason opener against a solid Arizona defense but they’ll need to be better in this one as they travel to St. Louis to take on a Rams team who is surely sour after losing their opener to the Browns. Graham Harrell and James Starks are bound to handle the bulk off the offensive responsibilities once again and while their roles as starters are far from a possibility it is still important for depth guys to build their confidence and push those in front of them on the depth chart to be the best they can. While Harrell won’t be winning any MVP awards any time soon he is still a decent option behind centre and should find more success against the Rams than he did with the Cards.

St. Louis fell short on the road against the Cleveland Browns in their preseason debut but they were able to generate some offense through the air as Kellen Clemens and Chris Givens built some chemistry but ultimately it wasn’t enough. The Rams have high hopes for this season especially after drafting Tavon Austin from West Virginia who could very well come into the league and make an immediate difference with the Rams as a deep threat. Daryl Richardson has also cemented himself as the new starter in Jeff Fisher’s running game and as the preseason goes along we can expect to see more reps given to the young running back from Vernon, Texas. This is an interesting game to call as the line on this one at full snap would be closer than a lot of people would expect but in a battle of reserves I think the edge lies with the Rams who are younger and have more to play for. Liking the home team in this one.
