The Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons square off in week four preseason action.
Jacksonvlle dropped a 31-24 decision to Philadelphia to remain winless in the preseason. This was a nice effort by the starters before the back ups struggled which is sometimes a common theme in these preseason battles. The Jaguars moved the ball throughout the first half almost effortlessly at times before finishing with 346 yards. Chad Henning (11-18/106) filled in quite well for the injured Blaine Gabbert with a pair of scoring strikes but Jacksonville was most impressive on the ground. Jordan Todman led the ground game with an eight carry 105 yard night with a 63 yard scoring gallop. It was the defense that had issues with the Eagles racking up 452 yards and 27 first downs with the reserves responsible for a chunk of that real estate when Philly won it with a 15-0 fourth.

Even though we are in the preseason and the games are meaningless, I'm still a bit surprised the Falcons have not won a game. Atlanta fell to 0-3 following a 27-16 defeat at the hands of Tennessee in which the Titans starters out played the Falcons first team. Matt Ryan (11-19/138) drove the team to a pair of first quarter field goals for a 6-0 lead but the drives stalled on the Titans 13 and six yard lines. That was the extent of the scoring for the starters with Ryan harassed and sacked five times before a 3rd quarter exit. Steven Jackson (12-51) and Dominique Davis (2-45) paced a decent ground game but the first team couldn't find the end zone and the reserves couldn't keep the Titans reserve out of the end zone. This script has hurt Atlanta throughout the preseason and has to change before these games count.
Jacksonville had Philadelphia on the ropes and has been far more competitive than Atlanta who been less then impressive. Hard to pass up the points in a nothing game and I won't but I'd be lying if I said I was confident...
