The Texans and Cowboys meet in Dallas in an all Texas battle as both teams get geared up for the regular season.
The Houston Texans have been the model franchise in terms of progression over the years since entering the NFL as a league doormat and now are perennial contenders in the AFC year in and year out. While they lost former first overall pick Mario Williams to the Bills last season the Texans still possess a great young team led by Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson, Arian Foster, and JJ Watt and they’re definitely the odds on favourite to win the AFC South again this season. There have been growing concerns with the health of Foster in the Texans’ back field but it is still a wait and see type of mentality and if Foster is a no go then Ben Tate is more than capable of filling the void in the ground. Heading into Dallas you can be sure the Texans will want to put on a show and steal the in state bragging rights and after losing their last contest at home you can bet they’ll be fired up here.

The Cowboys continue to live in the hype machine every single season but they never seem to put together a successful campaign and they’re certainly not in the upper echelon of league contenders at the moment. Dallas has temporarily benched starting running back Demarco Murray, a move in which Murray was surprised with and the uncertainty surrounding which Tony Romo is going to show up has Cowboys fans yanking their hair out even before the first snap. Dez Bryant and Jason Witten will surely get their receptions and scores this season but I think Dallas is going to spend a lot of the year playing catch up and while It may be beneficial for fantasy players I don’t think it bodes well for the Cowboys. Even in this preseason contest I think the Texans are too much for Dallas and I like the visitors to come away with the victory.
