The Seattle Seahawks and the Oakland Raiders face-off on Thursday in Seattle as they close out their NFL preseason with a week 4 match up.

Most teams rest their starters for week four of the NFL preseason, but it’s always tough to tell what Pete Carroll might do. The Seahawks certainly have the look of a team that is going to contend with an offense that just doesn’t make a lot of mistakes, a tried and true formula for winning in the NFL. Russell Wilson will once again run the offense, but there is little help behind him as neither Tarvaris Jackson nor Brady Quinn has been able to win as a starting QB. Marshawn Lynch is just tough to bring down and, with the addition of Christine Michael, they have a back who can break one at any time. Sidney Rice and Golden Tate are the stating WR tandem and Percy Harvin has been placed on the PUP, but Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse can contribute. Defense is where it all starts for Seattle and while Chris Clemons has been the man as far as the pass rush for several seasons, each year the Seahawks get him more and more help. We saw last season that as a unit, they could really bring the heat. The Seahawks secondary is Pro Bowl caliber across the board and when a unit is that strong, the depth only goes to a higher level.

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The Oakland Raiders look to be a disaster this season and could be picking early in the NFL Draft when it rolls round in the Spring of 2014. The Raiders continue to have issues at QB and after trading for Carson Palmer, which didn't seem to be the answer last year, the signing of Matt Flynn has made it increasingly obvious why he wasn’t really even given a chance in Seattl- he simply doesn’t have the tools to be an NFL QB. So the Raiders desperately hope that Terrelle Pryor’s ability to run for his life and create plays with his feet will buy him enough time to make plays down the field, but, much like Flynn, he just doesn’t have all of the tools necessary to be successful at this level, especially with an offensive line hat will hang him out to dry. Darren McFadden is ready to give it another go this season, but he is getting worn down as well from taking a beating as the Raiders only real offensive threat. Defensively, the Raiders should be playing with their backs to the wall most of the season, with their only hope being their exceptional kicking game to bail them out.

The Seahawks won’t be playing their potential starting QB here like the Raiders will be, but they won’t need to. It is maybe the first time I have ever said this, but Tarvaris Jackson and Brady Quinn might just be good enough. One thing is for certain, the Seahawks defense, even the second and third team, are good enough to stop this Raiders team.
