The Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns face off on Sunday in Baltimore for a week 2 AFC North NFL Football battle.
All appeared to be going well for the Baltimore Ravens in the first half of their season opener at Denver but it all unraveled in a hurry as they were routed by the Broncos. Joe Flacco was forced to throw on just about every down attempting 62 passes for 362 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Ray Rice games just 36 yards on the ground but he did find the endzone and he also had eight catches. Dallas Clark had seven catches while Torrey Smith, Marlon Brown, and Brandon Stokely each had four catches as Jacoby Jones was injured and will be out for a few weeks. Defensively the defense was carved up by Peyton manning who threw for seven touchdowns. Josh Bynes had eight tackles, Corey Graham had seven tackles, and Jimmy Smith and Terrell Suggs had six tackles each. The Ravens will need to put last Thursday behind them and continue to look ahead.

The Cleveland Browns were in a tough defensive battle in week on against the Dolphins but they ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard. QB Brabdon Weeden completed less than 50 percent of his passes for 289 yards and a touchdown while being intercepted three times. Trent Richardon gained 47 yards as he had all 13 rushing attempts for the Browns. Jordan Cameron was Cleveland’s top receiver with nine catches while Devone Bess had five and Greg Little had four. The Browns defense allowed just 275 yards last week and recorded four sacks but the minus two turnover ratio was their undoing. D’Qwell Jackson led the defense with nine tackles, Chris Owens had eight tackles, and Desmond Bryant had two sacks. The Browns simply are going to need to play better but with no teams in the AFC winning in week one they are very much in the mix.
Baltimore is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 1-3-1 against the spread against the AFC North, and 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 home games against a team with a losing road record. Cleveland is 7-2 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover the spread, 6-2-1 against the spread against the AFC North, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four games. Cleveland is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games in Baltimore and the road team has covered the spread in the last seven meetings of these two.
This should be a good defensive game as both teams have issues but their familiarity with one another means they are built to play one another. Points are going to be at a premium so I am going to take the under.
