The Tennessee Titans head to Houston on Sunday to face off against the Texans at Reliant Stadium.
The Houston Texans are 1-0 after an exciting, Monday Night Football match up with the San Diego Chargers. The Texans defeated the Chargers 31-28, but it wasn’t as easy as some thought it would be for Houston. The Texans started mounting their comeback late third quarter, early fourth, and Brian Cushing made his presence felt for the Texans as Cushing picked off a Phillip Rivers pass and returned it 18 yards for the tying score. The Texans put up 449 yards of offense against the Chargers, and out gained San Diego 449-263. Matt Schaub had a very solid day throwing the ball, putting up 346 yards through the air and three scores. Granted, the Texans trailed the majority of the time so Houston was forced to air it out a bit more than they would have liked, but still a solid day for Schaub. The ground game for the Texans was good, but Foster had a sub par day (at least by his standards). Foster rushed for 57 yards on 18 attempts, for an average just over 3.2 yards per carry. Ben Tate was solid for the Texans, picking up 55 yards on nine attempts, as Tate continues to be one of the best backup running backs in the league. Defensively the Texans were solid, especially the second half. Having Cushing back in the lineup is the key piece this defense was missing the second half last season, and if this defensive unit can stay healthy, the Texans should be in every game they play this season.

The Tennessee Titans are starting their season 1-0 after the Titans defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 16-9 on opening weekend. The Titans didn’t do anything all that special in this game, I just think this is a really bad Pittsburg team right now. Tennessee only gained 229 yards of offense on the day, 117 through the air and 112 on the ground. Locker was 11/20 for just 117 yards with no scores. Chris Johnson, and the ground game for the Titans were held in check as Johnson tallied 70 of the 112 yards for the Titans on the ground. Tennessee’s defense put up solid numbers, but honestly I feel this is more an indication on how bad the Steelers offense is, rather than how good Tennessee’s defense played. The Steelers just had 195 yards of offense for the day. The reason I say this was more Pittsburgh’s lack of offense rather than the Titans great defense is that the Steelers looked like they had no idea what they were doing, not just getting beat by the Titans.
The Tennessee Titans have struggled overall, but especially on the road the past few seasons as the Titans are just 7-10 overall on the road and 6-10 against the spread. The Texans are solid at home, going 13-5 overall the past three seasons, while having an ATS mark of 12-5 during that span.
Tough call here, but I have to go with the Titans. The Texans are just getting too many points, especially considering they are coming off a short week. I realize that Tennessee is up against it somewhat, having back to back road games to open their season, but I feel this is just too many points to be giving up in this spot.
