The Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts square off at Lucas Oil Stadium as both teams look to advance to 2-0 after season opening victories last week.
The Dolphins began their season on the road in Cleveland against a Browns team who was generating a lot of preseason hype but left the Dog Pound with a convincing victory behind a stout effort on defense and an efficient day on offense. Miami has been written off by a number of teams as being an also ran in the AFC once again this season but with an underrated defense and an offense that could surprise some people they are right in the mix in the AFC Wild Card hunt and if they can leave Indy with a win and head home with a 2-0 mark it could greatly alter the perception of the Phins moving forward. Ryan Tannehill is looking to jump into the conversation as being a legitimate starter in the NFL and with a number of options through the air in Mike Wallace, and Brian Hartline leading the way it could prove fruitful in the coming weeks. However, the play of Lamar Miller is going to be the key to victory here as the Colts run defense has been abysmal and was almost the scapegoat for what could have been an embarrassing opening week loss to the Oakland Raiders.

Indianapolis shocked a lot of people last season by making the playoffs in Andrew Luck’s first season at the helm but like many I expect them to take a step back this season and their opener last week against Oakland was almost a complete disaster. They say a win is a win but the Colts looked average at best against what many people are thinking to be the worst team in the NFL and while it may take a few games to hit full stride I don’t think Indy is a threat to anyone in the AFC South to win the division. The Colts offense is one dimensional and against a solid defense like Miami’s they’re going to have to find ways to win the possession battle by generating success on the ground. Ahmad Bradshaw is a serviceable back but he isn’t going to win you games on his own and much like the Dolphins defense did against Trent Richardson I think they find the same success here. The key for the Colts will be on the play of their tight ends and if they can find matchup advantages at key opportunities than the Colts could come away victorious but for now I really like this situation for the Dolphins. At least take Miami to keep it close but I’m going one better and taking them outright behind a solid effort from Miller and Daniel Thomas.
