The winless Washington Redskins look to end their futility when they travel to the Black Hole to take on the 1-2 Oakland Raiders who are coming off a sloppy loss on Monday night to the Broncos.
The Redskins were hyped as one of the teams to beat in the NFC this season after their magical efforts a year ago fabricated into a playoff berth but the health concerns of Robert Griffin, that apparently weren’t going to play a factor this season have certainly done so through three weeks. Washington is 0-3 this season with losses to the Eagles, Packers, and Lions which are by no means easy competition and now head to Oakland to face a feisty Raiders team who may not win a ton of games this year but will always give 100% effort and make it tough for teams to win. Alfred Morris had a great game against the Lions and he will be called upon heavily again here as the Skins continue to adapt to Griffin’s immobility outside the pocket. The Raiders are susceptible to getting beat by the deep ball so Pierre Garcon is likely going to be very busy in this one and we could finally see the Redskins break out offensively while they try to find a balanced game and contain Terrelle Pryor.

Oakland has been exciting to watch this season despite their 1-2 mark and seemingly anemic offense at times and while they’re poised for another season of double digit losses it finally looks like the Raiders are heading in the right direction in terms of personnel and systems. Denarius Moore and Rod Streater look like legitimate options through the air and Pryor has been pinpoint with his passing and brings a dimension on the ground that the Raiders haven’t had from their quarterback position in years. Darren McFadden and Marcel Reece are a lethal tandem in the backfield and in the flats and if the Raiders can add some pieces defensively in the offseason and perhaps add another hog on the offensive line it could be a quicker turnaround than many expected in Raider Nation. However, these two teams have very different mentalities this season and that is a dangerous thing when facing a desperate team. Washington is expected to win now while the Raiders have a grace period for another season or two, and with the former yet to record a win it is understandable why they’re favoured in this spot. Not too crazy about this game but have top side with the Redskins as they’re playing for their season in this one.
