The Line: Green Bay Packers -7 -- Over/Under: 53 See the Latest Odds
The Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions face off on Sunday at Lambeau Field for a week 5 NFL NFC North battle.
The Green Bay Packers are coming off of a bye week and it was one that couldn’t have come at a better time for them. The Pack was banged up heading into the bye and the extra week and no travel day can’t do anything but help. The Packers offense is averaging 32 points per game anf 454.7 yards as one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. QB Aaron Rodgers has completed 66.4 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and three interceptions and he has been sacked 10 times. Eddie lacy was sidelined with a concussion but he should be back as Jonathan Franklin averaged 7.9 yards per carry but had the big fumble that cost the packers the game in Cincinnati. Randall Cobb leads Green Bay with 21 catches and two touchdowns, Jordy Nelson has 18 catches and three touchdowns, and James Jones has 15 catches and a touchdown. Defensively the Packers are allowing 29.3 points and 404.3 yards per game with two interceptions, seven sacks, and five fumble recoveries. Brad Jones has 26 tackles, A.J. Hawk has 23 tackles, and Sam Shields has 21 tackles. Clay Mathews left last game with a hamstring injury but he should be healthy for this one.

The Detroit Lions are coming off of a huge win at home against the Bears and have won their last three games in a row. The Lions missed the playoffs last season but look determined to get back to it this year. Offensively the Lions are averaging 30.5 points and 404.8 yards per game. QB Matthew Stafford has completed 64.1 percent of his passes for seven touchdowns and three interceptions while being sacked three times. Reggie Bush was banged uo but he is healthy and averaging 5.3 yards per carry with a touchdown and he has 11 receptions and another touchdown while Joique Bell is averaging 3.2 yards per carry with three touchdowns and he has 18 catches out of the backfield. Calvin Johnson is the Lions lading receiver with 21 catches and four touchdowns, Brandon Pettigrew has 12 catches, and the Lions are hoping Ryan Broyles or someone steps up for Nate Burleson who is out until November. Defensively the Lions are allowing 25.2 points and 378.8 yards Stephen Tulloch and DeAndre Levy each have 28 tackles and Chris Houston has 20 tackles. This is about as big of a game as there is for the Lions at this point in the season.
Green Bay is 13-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 16-5 against the spread following a loss, and 8-1 against the spread following a bye week. Detroit is 4-1 against the spread against the NFC, 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games. The favorite is 9-4 against the spread in the last 13 meetings of these two.
The total is set high in this one but I could see the score going significantly higher and the over is my free pick here in what I consider a strong play. I also have a pick on who will cover the spread and I will post that strong play in the Premium Area.
