The Line: Kansas City Chiefs -9.5 -- Over/Under: 42 See the Latest Odds
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders face off on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in an AFC West rivalry game in NFL week 6 action.
The Kansas City Chiefs had the first pick in last year’s NFL Draft and this year they are among the remaining unbeaten teams. The Chiefs offense is averaging 25.6 points and 348.4 yards per game but really it is their +10 turnover margin that has paved the way for the quick turnaround. QB Alex Smith has completed 58.4 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and three interceptions while being sacked 13 times and running 33 times for 161 yards. Jamaal Charles is averaging 4.3 yards per carry with three touchdowns and he has caught 28 passes with two more touchdowns. Dwayne Bowe has 17 catches and two touchdowns, Donnie Avery has 16 catches, and Seam McGrath has 15 catches. Defensively the Chiefs allow an NFL best 11.6 points per game and a seventh ranked 312.8 yards with seven interceptions, 21 sacks, and five fumble recoveries. Derrick Johnson has 35 tackles, Brandon Flowers has 24 tackles, and Justin Houston has 23 tackles. It is often said the quickest way to turn things around is to win the turnover battle and the Chiefs are just more proof of that.

The Oakland Raiders still have some work to do to compete with the better teams in the NFL but for the first time in a while the Raiders appear to be making a move in the right direction. The Raiders offense is averaging 19.6 points and 330.2 yards per game but it has been good enough for a 2-3 record. Terrelle Pryor is exceeding expectations at QB completing 68.3 percent of his passes for four touchdowns and two interceptions while being sacked 11 times but he has also rushed for 229 yards. Darren McFadden is averaging 4.1 yards per carry with two touchdowns but he missed last week’s game and I questionable for this one and Rashad Jennings is averaging 4.0 yards per carry and he has 11 receptions. Denarius Moore leads the Raiders in receptions with 20 with three of them going for touchdowns and Rod Streater has 16 catches. Defensively Oakland allows 21.6 points and 364 yards with three interceptions, 13 sacks, and four fumble recoveries. Kevin Burnett has 38 tackles, Nick Roach has 36 tackles, and Tracy Porter has 31 tackles. The Raiders appear to have some confidence and positive momentum working.
Kansas City is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 3-9 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 1-5 against the spread against the AFC West. Oakland is 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games, 1-3-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-5-1 against the spread following a win. Oakland has covered the point spread in their last seven games in Kansas City.
The line here looks to be way too high and while I give the Raiders a chance to win outright taking the points is a solid play.
