We’ve officially reached the start of Week 8 in the NFL, and this one is set to be one of the most dramatic yet. We’ve seen all sorts of injuries and developing storylines during the past few days, and they’re sure to have an effect on the impending set of games. Here’s a look at some of the noteworthy players out there and what we should be expecting this week.

Jermichael Finley, TE, Green Bay Packers: We’ve got some good news on Finley this morning. He’s set to be released from the hospital today, following a four-night stay. He sustained injuries to his neck and spinal cord against the Browns this past weekend, which promptly put him in the ICU initially.
As for Finley’s season, it’s most likely done. The Packers are expected to put him on IR very soon. That said, he’ll probably be able to recover enough to take the field again.

Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona Cardinals: Palmer got a vote of confidence from head coach Bruce Arians yesterday, as he said he’d be sticking with the struggling QB for the foreseeable future. The announcement was much to the chagrin of Cardinals fans who want to see Drew Stanton under center.
Palmer has had a rough time lately, posting seven interceptions in his last three games alone. If the struggles continue against Atlanta this weekend, we could see a renewed push for Stanton in the coming weeks.

Ryan Tannehill, QB, Miami Dolphins: Let’s take a moment to check in on Tannehill, who is turning into an injury concern this week. He was limited in practice yesterday due to a sore (throwing) shoulder, an issue likely sustained while getting whacked by Buffalo DE Mario Williams in Week 7. Tannehill finished that game with three touchdowns, two interceptions and 194 passing yards.
The ‘Phins have a big-time matchup on tap for Week 8--they’ll be taking on the Patriots in New England. Tannehill should be good to go for that one.

Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings: Peterson was held out of practice yesterday, apparently in an attempt to rest his ailing hamstring. He’s coming off a tepid 28 rush yards against the Giants in Week 7, which was a season-low. New Minnesota QB monopolized the offensive snaps with passes, attempting 53 throughout the course of the game.
The Vikings have a divisional game against the visiting Packers this weekend, so they’ll need Peterson to be in tip-top shape. We’ll keep an eye on things as the week comes to a close.

NFL Week 8 Schedule: There are a half-dozen teams on byes in Week 8, so there won’t be as many games as usual. That said, we’ve still got plenty of interesting matchups on the slate that should give fans of resting teams something to do. Here’s a look at the full schedule, as well as the times and TV networks carrying the games.
