The NFL’s Week 8 is officially in the books, and needless to say it was quite an awe-inspiring weekend of football. We saw all sorts of stellar play on the field, and that’s sure to continue as we move toward Week 9. As our two-day lull begins, let’s take a look at some of the noteworthy names out there who will be making waves this week. Here’s the latest.

Seahawks-Rams Notes: A lot of people figured the injury-stuffed Rams would get blown out here, but they put up a valiant fight. The game was close the whole way, with Seattle prevailing on a last-second goal-line stand to preserve their 14-9 win. St. Louis kicker Greg Zuerlein kept St. Louis close with three field goals, but missed a long 50-yarder late in the game that would have put his team in position to win. New QB Kellen Clemens had his ups and downs, but ultimately floundered with a two-interception performance. The win brings the Seahawks to 7-1, while the Rams fall to 3-5.

Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles: Today will be a big day for Foles and the Eagles, who keep flip-flopping their injured quarterbacks. He’ll reportedly be returning to practice today, one week after sustaining a concussion and missing out on the loss against the Giants. As long as he doesn’t suffer a setback, he should be starting against the Raiders this week in place of the injured Michael Vick.
Speaking of Vick, we’re still waiting on his MRI results, though the team doesn’t sound all too confident about his prospects.

Fred Davis, TE, Washington Redskins: Let’s stick in the NFC East and check in on Davis, who has made some news in the past day or so. The team is reportedly interested in trading him today before the deadline hits, but there’s no way of knowing if anyone’s showing interest. Davis has been a healthy scratch over the past two games and has just three catches for 25 yards this year. We can think of a few teams who are down tight ends and might want to pick him up, but only if the price is right. We’ll see in the coming hours.

NFL Week 9 Schedule: Now that Week 8 has officially concluded, we can start taking a look forward to Week 9. There will be another round of a half-dozen byes here, but we’ll still see plenty of interesting matchups. Here’s a look at the full slate, along with the game times and TV networks you can catch the action on.
