Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts head to Houston on Sunday to face off against the struggling Texans.
The Houston Texans are a team in turmoil right now as Kubiak cannot find his QB, as Schaub has struggled all season long. Kubiak did announce that getting the start on Sunday against the Colts will be Case Keenum, but it is yet to be seen whether or not Keenum is the answer for the Texans. Houston had this past weekend off, which is probably a good thing for them, as this gave the team time to regroup, and Keenum to get even more work with the number one’s. In their last outing, the Texans fell to the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs 17-16. Keenum made his first ever NFL start in this game, and played very well. The Signal caller went 15/25 on the day, for 271 yards and one score against one of the better defenses in the NFL. Make no mistake however, this Houston team runs through the ground attack, and the stretch play which they love to run. The Texans struggled on the ground against the Chiefs defense, picking up just 73 yards on the day, averaging a mere 3 yards per attempt. This also looks tough this coming week as the Texans are up against a solid run defense, and will likely be without both Ben Tate and Arian Foster.

The Indianapolis Colts are one of the surprise teams of the season, as nearly everyone had the Colts falling back after their success last year. The Colts have proved everyone wrong, and are not only winning, but doing so against tough competition. The Colts are sitting at 5-2 on the year, holding a two game advantage over the Titans. Indianapolis, like the Texans is pretty banged up, but I just don’t’ see Tennessee making a big enough run, or this Colts team falling off enough for them to lose their top spot. Indianapolis is a very physical team, much resembling the Stanford Cardinal when Luck was the quarterback there. I love the way this kid plays the game as he can make every throw on the field, but yet is athletic enough to make the play with his feet when necessary. Luck did lose one of his favorite targets last time out however as Reggie Wayne went down with a season ending injury, tearing his ACL. Tough break for both Wayne and the Colts.
The Colts are 4-1 overall in their last five games, and the total has gone under in eight of the last 11 games for Indy. THe total has also gone under in all five of the last five games between the Colts and the Texans. The Texans are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games against the Colts, but the Texans are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games.
I’m going to take the Texans in this spot. The Colts have been playing outstanding ball this season, but this looks like a tough spot. Indy will be without Wayne of course, and Richardson is not looking like he did with the Browns, as it is taking him awhile to find a rhythm with this offense.
I don’t love this pick as I am betting on Keenum over Luck, but I look for the Texans to have the advantage on the line of scrimmage, and look for Watt to have a big day against this Colts offensive line. Depending on the price at kick, I may take the money line with the Texans, but for now I’ll play it safe and take the points with Houston.
