The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills face off on Sunday in Pittsburgh in a battle of struggling AFC NFL football teams.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are having one of their worst seasons in recent memory and they sit in last place in the AFC North. The Steelers offense is averaging 19.5 points and 341.8 yards and they are minus 11 in turnover ratio. Ben Roethlisberger has completed 64.9 percent of his passes for 2.330 yards with 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Le’Veon Bell as rushed for 282 yards and he has 17 receptions. Antonio Brown has 61 receptions and three touchdowns, Emmanuel Sanders has 37 catches, and Jericho Cotchery has 29 receptions and five touchdowns. The Steelers defense is allowing 26 points and 341.2 yards per game and they have four interceptions, 13 sacks, and six fumble recoveries. Lawrence Timmons has 70 tackles, Ryan Clark has 65 tackles, and Troy Polamalu has 43 tackles. This year’s version of the Steelers looks like a shell of what we have grown accustomed to seeing from this organization.

The Buffalo Bills have had some big wins and tough breaks this season but in all they have grown considerably and have a bright future. The Bills offense is averaging 21 points and 344.7 yards with a minus one turnover ratio. Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel have been filling in for E.J. Manuel at QB but Manuel could be returning this week but we won’t know until later in the week. Fred Jackson has rushed for 502 yards and six touchdowns and he has 28 receptions and C.J. Spiller has 478 rushing yards with 16 receptions. Buffalo allows 26.2 points and 362.1 yards per game with 12 interceptions, 29 sacks, and five fumble recoveries. Kiko Alonso has 89 tackles, Da’Norris Searcy has 55 tackles, and Mario Williams has 11 sacks. Even in their losses the Bills have been competitive for the most part.
Pittsburgh is 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight home games, 1-5 against the spread following a loss, and 1-6 against the spread against a team with a losing record. Buffalo is 6-1 against the spread following a loss, 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games, and 4-1 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover the spread. Buffalo is 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games against Pittsburgh.
I don’t love this game and I may update this pick later in the week but I have to believe Manuel plays and the Bills play tough enough to at least get a cover if not the win.
