The San Diego Chargers look to avenge a home field loss to their division rivals from Denver last weekend as they head to Miami to face a Dolphins team in turmoil.
The Chargers had an opportunity to make a push in the AFC West with a home field victory over their archrivals from Denver last Sunday and what started out as a decebtly close affair turned into the Peyton Manning and Demaryius Thomas show as the two connected for three major scores en route to a 28-21 Denver victory. The Chargers were very much in the contest however and they can take that with them on the road against the Dolphins who handed the Tampa Bay Bucs their first win of the year on Monday night. San Diego is led on offense by Ryan Mathews, Antonio Gates, and Phillip Rivers which is a pretty scary trio when matched up against most opponents and certainly they have an edge on the unit of Ryan Tannehill, Lamar Miller, and Mike Wallace for Miami. The only thing going against the Chargers here is that they must travel from West to East for a 1:00 EST kick off which historically has favoured the home team.

The Dolphins went from off field spectacle to on field embarrassment in a matter of days as the Richie Incognito saga that has stolen headlines off the field turned into a nightmare on the field as the depleted Miami offensive line made for a terrible Monday night showing in Tampa Bay. The Dolphins started the season off nicely as they ripped off some early victories but their playoff shot took a serious hit on Monday as they dropped the contest against the Buccaneers and looked very bad in the process. Miami does return home here but they are on a short week and play host to a San Diego team who will be in desperation mode as they look to keep pace with the Chiefs and Broncos. Ryan Tannehill as expected looked off as he adjusted to the new offensive line and the Phins recorded a franchise worst two yards on the ground. The fact the Miami is a favourite in this one suggests to me that oddsmakers think the Chargers are on even keel with the Dolphins right now and that simply isn’t true. I’ll gladly take the points with San Diego here as they get the outright victory.
