The Line: Cleveland Browns -1 -- Over/Under: 41.5 See the Latest Odds
The Cleveland Browns and the Pittsburgh Steelers face off on Sunday in Cleveland for a week 12 NFL AFC North rivalry game.
The Cleveland Browns are in last place in the NFC North but along the way there has been progress as they have been competitive in most of their games. The Browns offense is averaging 19.2 points and 318.1 yards per game and they struggled badly last week at Cincinnati. Jason Campbell as completed 55.7 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and three interceptions as it has become clear they have given up on Brandon Weeden. Willis McGahee and Chris Ogbonnaya are splitting time in the backfield as McGahee has become less effective. Jordan Cameron has 56 catches and six touchdowns and Josh Gordon has 40 catches. Defensively the Browns are strong allowing 23.8 points but a fifth best in the NFL 306.5 yards per game and the Browns are minus three in turnover ratio. D’Qwell Jackson has 88 tackles, T.J. Ward has 68 tackles, and Craig Robertson has 65 tackles. The Browns are coming off one of their worst games of the season getting pounded at Cincinnati last week but they always seem to get up for the Steelers.
USA TODAY Sports
The Pittsburgh Steelers had a miserable start to this season but they are slowly clawing their way back into the playoff race. The Steelers rallied last week for a win over the Lions that kept their momentum going. The Steelers offense is averaging 21.6 points and 343.2 yards per game and they are minus eight in turnover ratio. Ben Roethlisberger has completed 64.5 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and he has been sacked 36 times. Le’Veon Bell has taken over the rushing game with 375 yards and four touchdowns averaging 3.1 yards per carry. Antonio Brown has 74 catches and five touchdowns, Emmanuel Sanders has 42 catches, and Jericho Cotchery has 34 catches and seven touchdowns. The Steelers defense allows 24.5 points and 340.8 yards per game. Lawrence Timmons has 83 tackles, Ryan Clark has 74 tackles, and Troy Polamalu has 49 tackles. The Steelers aren’t the power they have been in recent years but we can still see glimpses that there is top-level talent on this team.
Cleveland is 5-2 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 4-1 against the spread against the AFC, and 9-4 against the spread following a game in which they didn’t cover the spread. Pittsburgh is 4-10-1 against the spread following a win, 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games, and 5-12 against the spread following game that they covered the point spread. The home team has covered the spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
Look for it to be tough sledding to just move the ball in this one and for that reason I love the under here. I also have a play on who will cover the spread and I will post that pick in the Premium Area.
