The Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings face off on Sunday at Lambeau Field for a week 12 NFL NFC North rivalry game.
The Green Bay Packers were all alone in first place in the NFC North until a few weeks back when Aaron Rodgers was injured on a Monday Night against the Bears and the Packers haven’t won since and slipped to third place in the standings. The Packers have tried two QB’s to fill in for Rodgers but the result was the same as they have no answers. Scott Tolzien is the latest starter and he has completed 65.8 percent of his passes but the issue is he has thrown one touchdown and five interceptions. Eddie Lacy is the regular running back now and he has powered to a 4.0 yard per carry average with five touchdowns. Jordy Nelson has 57 receptions and seven touchdowns and Jarrett Boykin has 29 catches and a touchdown. Defensively the packers are allowing 23.9 points and 350.9 yards per game and they are minus six in turnover ratio. A.J. Hawk has 80 tackles and Tramon Williams and Morgan Burnett have 50 tackles each. The Packers desperately need a win but it will take a better effort than they have put forward recently.

The Minnesota Vikings have had a rough season as they have gone from a playoff team to one of the first teams picking in the next NFL draft. The Vikings have lost five of their last six games and in most they haven’t even been competitive. The Vikings offense is averaging 24 points and 317.7 yards per game. Christian Ponder has completed 63.7 percent of his passes with just six touchdowns and nine interceptions. The best news the Vikings have is that Adrian Peterson should be able to play this week as he has rushed for 851 yards and nine touchdowns and has 24 receptions. Jerome Simpson and Greg Jennings have 34 catches each and Kyle Rudolph has 30 receptions and three touchdowns. The Vikings defense allows a NFL worst 32 points per game and a 30th ranked 391.7 yards and they have a negative eight turnover ratio. Erin Henderson has 93 tackles and 3.0 sacks, Chad Greenway has 86 tackles, and Jared Allen has five sacks. The Vikings have plenty of name players but they are still missing some big pieces it would take to be successful every season.
Green Bay is 21-8 against the spread in their last 29 home games, 5-2 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 11-4 against the spread following a loss. Minnesota is 4-1-1 against the spread in week 12 games, 0-4 against the spread in their last four games in Green Bay, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against the Packers. The favorite has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
I am not sure how the packers are a field goal better than any team right now so I will take these generous points and roll with the Vikings in what looks to be an easy winner.
