The Oakland Raiders head to Dallas on Thursday to face the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
The Dallas Cowboys are their typical selves again this season as the Cowboys are sitting at 6-5 on the year. It seems every year this team wins games they are supposed to, and has trouble when they are supposed to cruise. Thursday should be one of those games where the Cowboys should cruise. Dallas has struggled at Jerry World since it’s open, but this season the Cowboys are playing well at home, going 4-1 overall on the year at home. The Cowboys said at the beginning of the season that they were going to have a renewed emphasis on the ground game, but that hasn’t really happened as the Cowboys are ranked 29th in the NFL in rushing yards per game. The defense was also supposed to be improved under Monte Kiffin, and while Dallas has had a ton of injuries on the defensive side of the ball, still the Cowboys are getting thrown on, and run on as the Cowboys are ranked 31st against the pass, and 30th against the run.

The Oakland Raiders are one of the more dysfunctional 4-7 teams I’ve seen in a while. The Raiders seemingly have a revolving door at the QB position, with Pryor going in and out of the lineup constantly with injuries. Matt McGloin, the rookie from Penn State has been a nice surprise for this team, and has shown some ability. It will be interesting to see if the Raiders go back to Pryor when he’s healthy, or if they stick with McGloin. The Raiders defense has played pretty well this year, especially against the run, where the Raiders are ranked eighth in the league. This won’t help them much against the Cowboys however, as Dallas hates running the ball. The secondary will get the majority of the work against the Cowboys, and this is where the Raiders have struggled this season, as Oakland is allowing 258.1 yards per game on average this season through the air.
The Oakland Raiders are 6-4 against the spread this season, and when the Raiders are listed as an underdog, Oakland is 5-4 ATS on the year.
The Dallas Cowboys are 8-3 against the spread this year, and Dallas is 3-2 against the spread when playing as the favorite.
I’m going to have to take Dallas here. I know nearly everyone and their brother will be on the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, but I just can’t back the Raiders in this spot. Oakland will likely move the ball a bit and will score some points against the ‘Boys, but Dallas always seems to play well on turkey day, and I’m expecting Romo and company to light things up here in Big D.
