NFL Updates: Texans-Jaguars, Week 14 Schedule and More
December 5, 2013
Well, that was quick. The short turnaround between the NFL’s weeks 13 and 14 has come to an end, and we’ll be getting back to business this evening. While we’re waiting on kickoff, let’s take a closer look at some of the noteworthy players and storylines happening around the league. Here’s the latest.
What to Watch Tonight: This week’s “Thursday Night Football” matchup probably isn’t getting too many football fans excited, but it should at least be a competitive game. The Houston Texans (2-10) will be taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-9), and with neither team headed to the playoffs, this one will be more about pride than anything else. The two teams split their meetings last year, with neither game being decided by more than a touchdown.
Even though they haven’t had much success in the standings, the Texans still boast a top-level defense, and should make life difficult for the reemerging Jaguars offense. Key here will be rookie wideout Ace Sanders (one of our favorite names this season) and Cecil Shorts, who will try to find some holes in the Houston secondary.
The action begins at 8:25 PM ET on NFL Network.

Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers: There aren’t too many updates out there about Rodgers’ status for this weekend; we’ll have to wait another day or two for those. The injured Packers QB, who has been out for the past four games after getting injured against the Bears, was able to practice yesterday and reportedly threw the ball pretty well. The team isn’t going to make a decision about whether or not he’ll play against the Falcons until tomorrow or Saturday, but the early indications this week haven’t been too favorable.
If Rodgers can’t take the field Sunday, there’s a decent chance he could be shut down for the season if the Packers are out of playoff contention.
Dwayne Bowe, WR, Kansas City Chiefs: What should we be expecting from Bowe this week? Well, let’s look at his recent numbers. Over the past four weeks, he’s racked up 231 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 19 catches, but hasn’t notched more than 67 yards in a game.
The tide could turn for Bowe’s stats this weekend as the Chiefs take on the Redskins, who are pretty bad against the pass. That said, KC is a running team and would much prefer to just sit on a lead rather than shoot it out on the scoreboard. Bowe will remain a big part of the team’s plans, and as long as they’re winning, those modest numbers will look just fine.
NFL Week 14 Schedule: Hopefully your favorite team is still in the running, because there’s not a whole lot of football left. Here’s a look at the complete Week 14 schedule, along with the start times and TV networks you can catch the games on.
