Week 14 is off and running, and we’ve only got a couple more days to wait for the main round of games on Sunday. In the meantime, there are plenty of notable NFL storylines and players to look into, so with that in mind let’s take a closer look at some of the things making headlines around the league this morning. Here’s the latest.

Texans-Jaguars Notes: The Jaguars have somehow managed to become one of the most successful teams in the AFC--over the last five games anyway. After a big 27-20 victory over the Texans last night, Jacksonville is now 4-1 in their most recent five. They got a big performance from their defense (three sacks, two interceptions) and some help from Houston’s ineptitude (14 penalties for a franchise-record 177 yards) to get their fourth win of the year.
Meanwhile, the Texans fall to 2-11 and are in a free-fall with their 11-game losing streak. Should the season end right now, they’d have the No. 1 draft pick, so fans will likely be rooting for them to just tank their remaining games.

Lions Injuries: We’ve got a couple of injury nuggets from Lions practice yesterday, and they may have a bearing on this weekend’s matchup against the Eagles. First off, there’s RB Reggie Bush. He sat out practice yesterday (though he did do some light running) due to a calf issue that’s had him sidelined both days so far this week. His status for the weekend will hinge on what he does today.
Detroit’s stud WR Calvin Johnson is also dealing with some injury issues this week. He sat out Tuesday and Wednesday, but was able to return to the practice field yesterday, which is a good sign for his knee injury. Johnson has been dealing with the ailment for a few weeks and it hasn’t stopped him from playing so far (and putting up monster numbers).

Delanie Walker, TE, Tennessee Titans: Breakout star TE Walker looks poised to miss the game in Denver this weekend. He’s been sidelined from practice all week, missing another session yesterday. Walker is dealing with a concussion that he sustained early on in Week 13 against the Colts. His absence was immediately felt on the Titans’ offense.

Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina Panthers: The Panthers RB platoon may be a player short during the marquis matchup Sunday evening against the Saints. Stewart sat out practice yesterday, thanks to an ankle issue he’s been fighting this week. He’s coming off a pretty bad game in Week 13, posting just 39 rush yards against the Bucs in his first start of the year.
The good news for the Panthers’ backfield is that DeAngelo Williams as been practicing this week, following a missed game due to a quad injury.

NFL Week 14 Schedule: One game is in the books, but there are plenty more to go this week. Hopefully your favorite team is still in the running, because there’s not a whole lot of football left. Here’s a look at the remaining Week 14 schedule, along with the start times and TV networks you can catch the games on.
