The Line: Arizona Cardinals -6.5 -- Over/Under: 42.5 See the Latest Odds
The Arizona Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams face off on Sunday in Arizona in a NFL NFC West battle.
The Arizona Cardinals are thinking playoffs, but after last week’s loss to the Eagles they are on the outside looking in. The Cardinals had won their four prior games to get into the mix and they are still playing their best football. Carson Palmer has completed 62.8 percent of his passes with 19 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Rashard Mendenhall has rushed for 467 yards and five touchdowns and Andre Ellington has rushed for 441 yards. Larry Fitzgerald has 55 receptions and nine touchdowns and Michael Floyd has 54 receptions and four touchdowns. Karlos Dansby leads the Cardinals defense with 97 tackles, Tyrann Mathieu has 67 tackles, and John Abraham has 8 sacks. Arizona is averaging 22.9 points and 335.3 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 20.6 points and 316.2 yards per game. The Cardinals are a defense first team and that style of football generally plays out well late in the season.

The St. Louis Rams are a work in progress and while they have improved, they are a year away from competing with the top teams. The Rams entered last week's game riding a two game winning streak, but they were just handled by the 49ers. Kellen Clemens has done a nice job filling in for Sam Bradford completing 51.7 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and three interceptions mostly managing the offense. Zac Stacy has emerged as an answer to the running game averaging 4.3 yards per carry. Jared Cook has 40 receptions and Tavon Austin has 39 receptions and each of them have four touchdowns. James Laurinaitis as 91 tackles to anchor the Rams defense, Alec Ogletree has 85 tackles, and Robert Quinn has 13 sacks. The Rams offense is averaging 23.2 points and 323.6 yards per game while the defense allows 23.2 points and 356.7 yards. The Rams are in what looks to be the toughest division in football so their 5-7 record puts them in last place.
Arizona is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 5-1 against the spread following a loss, and 7-3 against the spread against the NFC. St. Louis is 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games against the NFC West, and 2-6 against the spread against the NFC. The underdog has covered the point spread in the last four meetings of these two.
Even with the total set at 42.5, I still have this one coming in under the number and my free pick here is on the under. I also have a play on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the Sports Chat Place App.
