The Denver Broncos travel to Houston to play the Texans on Sunday afternoon.
Denver dropped to 11-3 on the year after losing to San Diego 27-20 last week. The Broncos may have played their worst game of the year last week against the Chargers. Denver only produced 292 total yards with only 18 coming on the ground. The Broncos only had the ball for 21 minutes of the game as San Diego executed long drives on offense to keep them off the field. Peyton Manning completed 27 of 41 passes for 289 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. WR Caldwell led the Broncos with 6 catches for 59 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Denver defense allowed 337 total yards and did not do a good job getting off the field on third down. On the year, Manning has thrown for over 4,800 yards with 47 touchdowns. Moreno has rushed for 939 yards with 10 touchdowns, while Thomas has caught 78 balls for 1,194 yards and 11 scores. Denver ranks 1st in the league in passing yards as they average over 336 yards thru the air this season. However, the Broncos defense ranks 28th against the pass, allowing over 266 yards passing per game this season. Denver will try to bounce back on the road this weekend; the Broncos are 4-2 on the road this season.

The Houston Texans dropped to 2-12 on the season after losing at Indianapolis 25-3 last weekend. The Texans produced only 239 yards against the Colts. QB Keenum completed 18 of 34 passes for 168 yards with 2 interceptions, as he was also sacked 4 times. RB Tate carried the ball 16 times for 72 yards, while WR Griffin caught 6 balls for 62 yards to lead Houston. The Texans allowed 331 yards and forced 1 turnover on defense. On the year, Tate has rushed for 771 yards and 4 touchdowns, while Johnson leads the team with 99 catches for 1,295 yards and 5 scores. Houston is only giving up 183 passing yards per game this year, which ranks 2nd in the league. However, the Texans have had trouble stopping the run, giving up over 120 yards per game on the ground this season. Houston’s offense ranks 13th in passing yards, 245.5 yards per game, and 17th in rushing yards, 113.6 yards per game this season.
Houston is an absolute mess right now even though statistically they have not been as bad as their record shows this year. The Texans have played well against the pass defensively but they are facing a Denver team that is coming off a loss and has had 10 days to prepare for this matchup. Denver will look to bounce back after the loss to San Diego. I expect the Broncos to establish the run early and they start to throw the ball down field effectively as the game goes on. I think the Broncos will score 35 to 42 points in this game. Meanwhile, the Texans should have some success against a weak Denver defense and I believe they will score at least 21 points. The play for me in this game is the over.
