The Kansas City Chiefs and the Indianapolis Colts face off on Sunday in KC in a battle of AFC playoff teams.
The Kansas City Chiefs have clinched a playoff spot and are tied with the Broncos atop the AFC West but the Chiefs will need to win and get help to win the division as they were swept by the Broncos this year. Kansas City has made a dramatic turnaround after drafting first a year ago but they are going to need for someone to beat the Broncos or they will be playing on the road in the first round of the playoffs and the second as well if they make it that far. Alex Smith has completed 60.8 percent of his passes with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions and he has rushed for 384 yards. Jamaal Charles ahs rushed for 1,181 yards and 11 touchdowns and he has 65 receptions and seven receiving touchdowns. Dwayne Bowe has 52 receptions and Dexter McCluster has 46. Derrick Johnson leads the Chiefs defense with 102 tackles, Eric Berry has 66 tackles, three interceptions, and 3.5 sacks, and Tamba Hali and Justin Houston have 11 sacks each. The Chiefs are averaging 28.5 points and 341.2 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 18.2 points and 365.2 yards per game. The Chiefs are plus 21 in the turnover department and that has helped them with their turnaround this year.

The Indianapolis Colts have clinched the AFC South but they are going to need a lot of help to get a first round bye. The Colts have five losses but they also lost head to head against the Bengals making their position worse. Andrew Luck has completed 58.7 percent of his passes for 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions and he has rushed for 365 yards and four touchdowns. Trent Richardson is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry while Donald Brown is averaging 5.3 yards per carry as they split time in the backfield. T.Y. Hilton has 66 receptions and five touchdowns and Coby Fleener has 49 catches as the Colts passing game continues on without the injured Reggie Wayne. Jerrell Freeman has 113 tackles and 3.5 sacks, Antoine Bethea has 1-5 tackles, and Robert Mathis has 16.5 sacks. The Colts offense is averaging 24.1 points and 337.3 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 22.8 points and their opponents are averaging 362.6 yards per game. The Colts we supposed to be in a battle in the AFC South but none of their competitors showed up.
Kansas City is 2-5 against the spread against the AFC, 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games. Indianapolis is 5-1 against the spread against the AFC, 1-4 against the spread following a win, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games against a team with a winning home record. Indianapolis has covered the point spread in six of their last seven games in Kansas City.
This is a big line and it could work a few different ways. Firstly the Colts could be under siege like they were against the Rams on the road yet even worse since it is outdoors or Kansas City could have what looks to be a comfortable lead and the Colts roar back and make a game of it. The Chiefs just have more to play for here and I look for them to simply play like they want it more and get the cover.
