The New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns face off on Sunday in a week 16 NFL matchup.
The New York Jets are eliminated from the playoffs but they have plenty to play for in relation to auditioning for next year. The Jets have lost four of their last five games and they have gone from being a potential playoff team to having a reasonable spot in the NFL Draft. Geno Smith has had a learning experience type of year at QB completing 55.3 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. Chris Ivory has rushed for 705 yards and Bilal Powell has rushed for 567 yards and he has 31 receptions. Jeremy Kerley has 33 receptions and David Nelson has 27 which sadly leads the Jets. David Harris has 112 tackles, Demario Davis has 100 tackles, and Muhammad Wilkerson has 10 sacks. New York averages 17.6 points and 3-6.7 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 26.2 points and their opponents are averaging 341.4 points. The Jets have a lot of question marks entering the off-season and very few answers.

The Cleveland Browns have lost their last five games in a row and eight of their last nine. While in most of their recent games the Browns have been competitive the results in the win and loss column haven’t ben favorable. Jason Campbell has been in at QB and he has completed 58.9 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. Willis McGahee has 377 yards rushing and Chris Ogbonnaya has 231 yards rushing and 46 receptions. Jordan Cameron has 75 receptions and Josh Gordon has 74 receptions and nine touchdowns. D’Qwell Jackson has 121 tackles, T.J. Ward as 101 tackles, and Tashaun Gipson has 82 tackles. The Browns are averaging 20.6 points and 346.2 yards while defensively they are allowing 25.9 points and 328.9 yards per game. The Browns appear to be headed in the right direction and they are just missing a few pieces to get them there.
New York is 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games, 1-4 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games. Cleveland is 16-5 against the spread in their last 21 road games against a team with a losing home record, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six December games. The favorite has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
The Jets are favored here but I don’t see them having much success against the Browns defense and I ike the Browns to win outright in a low scoring game. Joe Haden is questionable after getting dinged up last week and if he does play I like the Browns even more.
