The Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears face off on Sunday Night Football in a game among NFC division leaders with huge Wildcard implications.
The Philadelphia Eagles had a chance to get a game ahead of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East last Sunday but they played their worst game in weeks and lost to the Vikings. The Eagles close out the season in Dallas so they need a win here to control their own destiny. Nick Foles has completed 62 percent of his passes with 23 touchdowns and two interceptions. LeSean McCoy has been sensational rushing for 1,343 yards and seven touchdowns and he has 45 receptions. DeSean Jackson has 75 receptions and 1,275 receiving yards and Riley Cooper has 41 catches and seven touchdowns. DeMeco Ryans has 116 tackles and 4 sacks, Mychal Kendricks hs 89 tackles, and Nate Allen has 76 tackles. The Eagles offense is averaging 26 points and 414 yards per game while defensively they are allowing 24.9 points and 402.4 yards per game. The Eagles were once playoff regulars and they are looking to regain that status in Chip Kelly’s first year as Head Coach.

The Chicago Bears control their own destiny in the NFC North and the formula is easy, win out and they are in. The Bears have won their last two games while the Lions lost on Monday to leave Chicago alone in first place. Jay Cutler is back at QB for the Bears and after winning last week in Cleveland there was no controversy regarding his status and he has completed 63.9 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Matt Forte is having a monster year rushing for 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns and catching 66 passes. Brandon Marshall has 90 receptions and 10 touchdowns and Alshon Jeffery has 80 catches and seven touchdowns as they are one of the best receiving tandems in the NFL. James Anderson has 87 tackles and 3 sacks, Major Wright has 85 tackles, and Lance Briggs could be back for the Bears for this one. The Bears are averaging 299 points and 393.4 yards per game while defensively they allow 27.9 points and their opponents are averaging 380.4 yards per game. The Bears are the inverse of what we have come to expect of them as they are all about the offense.
Philadelphia is 8-18-1 against the spread following a loss, 5-12-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, and 0-6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record. Chicago is 2-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 2-8 against the spread following a win, and 1-6 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. The underdog has covered the spread in eight of the 10 meetings of these two.
With the total set at 56 and two teams with powerful offenses and questionable defenses the over look to be a safe play and it is my free pick. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that pick in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
