The New York Jets head to Miami on Sunday to face off against the Dolphins.
The Miami Dolphins are 8-7 on the year, and still have a shot at the playoffs. The Dolphins need some help to get in, but first and foremost, the Dolphins need to get a win here against their division rival Jets. Miami has played well this season, although they have shown us that they can be a bit streaky at times. The Dolphins do play well at home, so getting to host the Jets here is definitely a plus. Tannehill has started to look like the real deal under center for Miami this season as the second year starter has put up solid numbers on the season. Miami fell last weekend to the Bills, but the Dolphins have won three out of their last four heading into this meeting with the Jets here on Sunday.

The New York Jets will be sitting the playoffs out again this season, and with the playoffs out of the picture, it will be interesting to see if the Jets make a change at the head coaching position this offseason. To Ryan’s credit, this Jets team wasn’t expected to do anything this year, and a win here on Sunday against a solid Dolphins team, would put the Jets at the .500 mark for the season. New York of course is playing well defensively, ranking third in the league against the run this season, but the pass defense has struggled for the Jets, ranking 24th in the league currently. Obviously, the loss of Reevis has hurt this secondary. Geno Smith has had an up and down season with the Jets in his rookie campaign, but to be fair to Smith the young quarterback doesn’t have any kind of reliable weapons at all to work with.
The Jets are 0-4-1 against the spread in their last five games following an outright win, and the Jets are 0-3-1 against the spread in their last four games overall. The Jets are also 0-4-1 against the spread in their last five games following an ATS win.
The Dolphins are 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games, and Miami is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games played on grass. The Dolphins are also 5-1 against the spread in their last six games overall.
I’m not touching this one, but giving up less than a touchdown at home with the Dolphins looks like the side I would be on. Miami needs this win, and while Ryan would love to play the spoiler against the Jets division rival and bring his team to .500 on the year, I just don’t see it happening.
The Dolphins may be undervalued a bit here after last week’s embarrassing loss, but this Miami team has played well lately, especially at home, which is why I’ll give up the touchdown and take Miami here on Sunday.
