NFL Updates: Stafford, Harvin, Complete Playoffs Schedule and More
January 21, 2014
We’ve got quite a while to wait until the Super Bowl (February 2), but in the meantime there are plenty of topics to cover in the NFL. With that in mind, let’s take our daily look at some of the noteworthy players across the league and see what’s happening out there right now. Here’s the latest.
Percy Harvin, WR, Seattle Seahawks: With the Super Bowl still pretty far off, it’s a little early to speculate on injury situations. That said, the general feeling in Seattle is that the team will have Harvin available and ready to go for the big game. He’s coming off a concussion suffered during the Saints game, but the good news is that the injury is on the milder side. His hip is also doing pretty well, so by the time the Super Bowl rolls around in a couple of weeks he should be fully healed.
The Seahawks could desperately use Harvin’s big play ability against an obviously superior Denver offense. He’s only been able to play 39 snaps with Seattle this season, but if he’s healthy expect the Seahawks to work him in wherever they can.

Knowshon Moreno, RB, Denver Broncos: Let’s cruise on over to the other side of the Super Bowl field and take a look at Moreno. There’s good news here as well; He’s expected to be healed up enough to play against the Seahawks after suffering a rib injury against the Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
The initial X-rays on Moreno were negative, so it’s looking like he’s dealing with a bruise of some kind. We may see him take the extra precaution of a flak jacket, but by most indications he should be just fine.
Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions: New Lions head coach Jim Caldwell will reportedly be going back to the drawing board with his franchise QB Matthew Stafford. They’ll be concentrating on improving his footwork this off-season, and Caldwell has some specific drills and techniques in mind that he believes will help the five-year veteran.
Stafford is coming off a disappointing year overall; He threw 11 interceptions and lost a pair of fumbles over the Lions’ final half-dozen games as they imploded and played themselves out of postseason contention. Statistically, he carried a 58.5 percent completion percentage with 29 touchdowns and 19 interceptions in 2013.
NFL Playoffs Schedule and Key Dates: There’s just one more (meaningful) game left in the NFL season, and after that it’s back to anticipation mode for the 2014 campaign. Here’s a look at the schedule and scores from previous rounds, along with a few important upcoming dates we’ll be seeing soon.
