NFL News: Player News and Updates for 4/4/14
NFL Updates: Daniels, Chris Johnson, Off-Season Schedule and More
April 4, 2014
The week is winding down, and looking back over the past several days, it’s been a whirlwind of activity in the NFL. There are plenty more happenings to come in this off-season, so with that in mind let’s take a look at some of the noteworthy players out there and see what everyone’s up to. Here’s the latest.
Alfred Morris, RB, Washington Redskins: One person who should be super-duper excited about the DeSean Jackson signing is Morris. We should be seeing a night-and-day difference in defensive looks from the Redskins’ opponents this season, as with Pierre Garcon and the new arrival Jackson, the safeties won’t be cheating into the box since they won’t want to get beat deep by the Washington speedsters.
As for Morris, he’ll feed off the set-up and should thrive statistically in 2014. All in all, you can expect the Redskins to take a huge step forward, and thanks to what should be a very dangerous offense they’ll be NFC East contenders this season.

Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans: It’s been speculated pretty much the entire off-season, and now it appears that we’ve got some confirmation of Johnson’s future. The veteran RB will not be back with the Titans next season, according to a statement from his agent that came out Tuesday evening.
The agent said he didn’t know when the cut was coming, but that it was only a matter of time before the team severed ties. That date could be coming very soon, as there’s a lot of speculation out there that says Johnson could be released within the next few days. Stay tuned.
Kyle Rudolph, TE, Minnesota Vikings: Remember Rudolph? He was supposed to have a breakout year in Minnesota during 2013, but was only able to play eight games before a fractured foot ended his season. We’ve got a bit of an update on him this morning, and things are looking pretty good.
Starting with Monday’s off-season workouts in Minnesota, Rudolph won’t be limited as far as participation. He says he’s been training all winter and hasn’t experienced any setbacks with his foot.
With new offensive coordinator Norv Turner in the fold, Rudolph figures to have a breakout year, so as long as he stays healthy we could see some huge numbers from him.
Owen Daniels, TE, Baltimore Ravens: We’ve got another signing to look at this morning, and it’s Daniels, the former Texan who’s been a hot topic of conversation recently. He signed a one-year deal with the Ravens yesterday and will be backing up No. 1 TE Dennis Pitta.
This is a bit of a head-scratching signing if you ask us. Sure, Daniels will get some field time in 2014 during two-TE sets, but there’s little doubt who the man in Baltimore is. Furthermore, the Packers and Giants both reportedly had interest in his services, and he could have been higher on the depth chart in either place. He must have seen something in Baltimore that decided things for him.
