NFL Updates: Falcons' First Round, Off-Season Schedule and More
April 29, 2014
Already this week, we’ve seen plenty of interesting developments from around the NFL. We’re sure to see plenty more in the lead-up to the 2014 draft, which is approaching rapidly. That said, let’s take our daily look around the league and see what’s happening out there. Here’s the latest.
Falcons’ First-Round Plans: This week, we’ve examined the potential plans for the Buffalo Bills, and now let’s head over to Atlanta and see what the Falcons might do. There’s been some increasing speculation over the last few weeks that dictates the team will trade and move out of the No. 6 spot. Whether they’ll move up or down likely depends on the situation leading up to their pick.
Rumors are swirling that the Falcons are gunning for Jadeveon Clowney (they’ve even brought him in for a look), and in order to get him they’d have to swing a trade with Houston to get into the No. 1 spot. That said, Atlanta could also trade back and go for depth in a stacked draft class. Anything is possible, so hold onto your hats, Falcons fans.

Terrance Knighton, DT, Denver Broncos: Broncos fans can breathe a little easier today, as there was some good news coming out on Knighton yesterday. There had been some worry that he might hold out for a contract extension this off-season, since he’s entering the final year of his deal. The man himself, however, said that wasn’t going to happen.
Knighton said he will be honoring his contract, but that he would like to get an extension with the Broncos. If Denver does opt to extend him, look for an asking price in the range of $10 million annually.
Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants: Let’s head over to the Big Apple for a moment and check out Manning--or more specifically, Manning’s ankle. He was seen walking at a charity event yesterday, and doing so without the aid of a walking boot. Even better, he was also without a visible limp.
Manning still has some recovering to do after his ankle surgery this month, and is expected to be out for most of May. That said, he should be back to his old self by the time camp rolls around, so he’ll hit the new season--and a new offense--with a full head of steam.
