NFL Updates: Colts, Cowboys, Off-Season Schedule and More
June 11, 2014
We’ve officially reached the middle of the week, and the NBA news continues to trickle in. We’re seeing more and more concrete headlines as we creep toward the beginning of the 2014 campaign, so with that in mind let’s take a closer look at some of the notable players and situations out there right now.
Terrance Williams, WR, Dallas Cowboys: Cowboys fans are expecting a big year from second-year WR Terrance Williams, and they just might be right. He had a great rookie campaign, posting 44 grabs for 736 yards and five scores. He’s expected to build upon that success during the 2014 season, possibly getting over 60 catches and flirting with the 1000-yard mark.
Williams is firmly entrenched as the No. 2 guy opposite the dynamic Dez Bryant, and together the two make a potent one-two combination. We should be seeing some big things out of the Dallas passing game this year.

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts: Speaking of breakout wide receivers, Hilton is looking pretty promising himself. The team has been shuffling him around in different slots so far during the OTA sessions, and will likely carry that tendency into the regular season.
With Hilton getting lots of different looks, opposing defenses will have to game-plan for a lot of scenarios. That gives him a good chance to improve upon his 82 catches, 1,083 yards and five scores in 2013.
Fantasy Corner: This week, we’ve been taking a position-by-position look at some of the top picks in your fantasy draft. This week it’s time for wide receivers, which is honestly a deep slot--but once you get past the top tier it’s difficult telling what you’re going to get.
Calvin Johnson (once again) is the top player here, far and away. After that it’s a logjam with Demaryius Thomas, Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones, A.J. Green and Dez Bryant all jockeying for position.
Further down the list--yet still more than worthy of a No. 1 fantasy slot--are Jordy Nelson, Antonio Brown and Alshon Jeffery. Randall Cobb and Larry Fitzgerald round out the highest level of WR goodness in fantasy this year.
We’ve got a few potential breakouts further down the list here as well; Be aware of Vincent Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Michael Crabtree when you’re on the clock during your draft.
Week 1 Schedule: Now that the schedules have been released, we can start looking forward to the on-field action as we warm up for the 2014 campaign. Here’s a look at the first week of the season, which begins September 4.
