We’ve still got a little while to wait before the training camp period begins around the NFL next month, but in the meantime there’s plenty for us football fans to talk about. That said, let’s take our daily stroll around the league and check out some of the notable happenings out there making headlines right now.

Dolphins Injury Updates: We got some news on a couple of big-name Dolphins players, and the new information clears up a lot of speculation.
First off, there’s new RB Knowshon Moreno. He made some headlines after sitting out much of the Dolphins’ minicamp last week, and now we know why. He had arthroscopic surgery in his knee and will be sidelined for around one month. This comes after he signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Miami in the off-season.
Adding to the Phins’ dismay is the news that center Mike Pouncey will be out for a minimum of three months after undergoing surgery on his hip. He suffered a torn labrum and will now be on the shelf until at least Week 4 of the regular season. Miami plays Oakland that week. That said, there’s talk he’ll begin the season on the PUP list, which would make Week 7 the first time he could return.

David Wilson, RB, New York Giants: It’s been a while since we’ve checked in on the health of the Giants RB David Wilson, so let’s see how things are going with him. The latest word there is a pretty positive one, as the team is optimistic that their injured RB will be ready for contact during next month’s training camp.
The expectation is that Wilson will finally be cleared by doctors in time for the July sessions, which would mark the end of a long journey following a severe neck injury that knocked him out of 11 games last season.
Once Wilson returns to the lineup, he may have to share carries more than he used to. The team signed Rashad Jennings in the off-season and also drafted Andre Williams in the fourth round last month. There aren’t too many people expecting Wilson to exceed 150 touches or so on offense this season, but we’ll just have to wait and see how his health plays out.

Chargers Sign Flowers: Here’s a potential game-changing signing that happened out in the AFC West yesterday. Former Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers agreed to terms on a contract with San Diego and signed a one-year deal with the team.
Flowers was cut by Kansas City earlier this month and drew a lot of interest on the free agent market, but the Chargers apparently won out. He brings experience, talent and depth to the Chargers secondary and should fit in nicely there.

Week 1 Schedule: Now that the schedules have been released, we can start looking forward to the on-field action as we warm up for the 2014 campaign. Here’s a look at the first week of the season, which begins September 4.
