Ray Rice Suspended: Where Do You Draft The Baltimore Ravens Running Back?
Ray Rice Has Been Suspended For The First Two Games
The Line: See the Latest Odds
Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has been suspended for the first two games of the NFL season due to his domestic despite during the offseason. Of course, the first thing I think about when stuff like this happens is how it effects betting lines and fantasy teams.
Now that Rice is out for two games, where do you draft him in your fantasy league and if he’s already on your team, do you consider a trade?

If Rice is already on your team, I’d sit it out for the two weeks and keep him stashed on your bench. One, it’s only two weeks and you should have a reliable backup to hold down the fort until Rice comes back. Also, the first two games for the Ravens were against the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers, two teams with a tough defense and games that should have made you think about benching him in the first place.
Let’s be honest, Rice wasn’t himself last season, rushing for just 660 yards and four touchdowns, totals that were his lowest since his rookie season. Rice should still be in the prime of his career at the age of 27, but his hip issues, lack of production, off-the-field issues and the fact Bernard Pierce has come onto the scene, there’s a chance Rice eventually takes a complete backseat in the Ravens offense.
Rice is no longer a Top 5 running back in fantasy leagues and at this point, he’s dropped out of the Top 10 and possibly the Top 15 with the suspension. Running back is just too deep of a position to waste a pick on some knucklehead who’s coming off his worst season in recent memory and could very well be splitting carries once he returns.
Honestly, I wouldn’t take Rice before the seventh round when much my core has already been drafted. Let other owners take a risk on him and if he so happens to fall in my lap in the later rounds, sure, I’ll take him with the great value. Other than that, I’m staying far away from the Ravens running back. He’s just not worth the risk in any early round. However, we all know somebody is going to waste an early pick on him due to his name.
Don’t be that guy.
