The Indianapolis Colts open the preseason with a visit to MetLife Stadium to face the New York Jets.
If you talk bout Indianapolis the chances are the conversation centers around quarterback Andrew Luck and with good reason. His ability will likely make him one of the elite signal callers in the game but he needs help. T.Y. Hilton and Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks will give it to him from the receiver position but at running back we still have questions. The Trent Richardson deal was a flop with Ahmad Bradshaw the most reliable runner. In the preseason we might see veteran Matt Hasselbeck but he is valuable if Luck misses time so perhaps Chandler Harnish gets some time and the Colts work on improving the run game.

The Jets haven't had a winng season since 2010 and one has to wonder how much longer Rex Ryan can hold on to his job. Geno Smith wasn't much more then a 50% passer but in his defense his receiving corps wasn't great. FA Chris Johnson hopefully gives the team some production in the rushing attack. The bottom line is to give the defense some points to work with. I'd be surprised if Smith played much which might give Michael Vick an opportunity to prove he deserves a shot at the starting job. The way I see the Jets playing this is to find out what exactly do they have at receiver which makes me think the ball might be in the air a bit more then expected.
I am going on the thought that New York needs a better passing game and now is the time to work on that area. If Vick plays a lot we could see some scoring so I'm looking at the over but remember this is game one so who knows...
